PROJECT OVERVIEW
Zero Day, also known as Fox Digital Studio is a studio-based Production Company specializing in short form content for brands across traditional and various streaming and distribution platforms.
The studio focuses on working with less accomplished talent affectionately referred to as "The Little Guys". One of their main objectives is to lower the barrier of entry in a very competitive space while encouraging diversity of available content on streaming platforms.
Zero Day wanted to carry out a logo re-design exercise and handpicked a few designers to
take part in the beginning process of a total rebrand.

CHALLENGE
Fox Digital Studio was rebranding as Zero Day Digital and wanted a new logo that will serve as the nexus point for the process of changing the face of the studio-based production company.
Zero Day Digital's logo is supposed to point to the essence of the brand as a production company that disrupts the incumbent system by partnering with technology savvy filmmakers.

The Walt Disney Company had just acquired Fox Digital Studio and was looking to position it as a player in the world of streaming platforms like Netflix, while retaining its boutique production company image. With Disney Plus in the works, Zero Day Digital was going to be a go-to streaming platform for short digital content in the Horror, Documentary and Children’s Animation genres.
APPROACH
A strategic approach was embarked on to redesign the logo, starting out with outlining what the design problem is, and writing out specific design requirements for the Zero Day Logo as determined by the client's brief. A list of basic attributes of a good logo was also made.
Afterwards, a basic brand discovery exercise was conducted to define who the target customers and competition are.


SPECIFIC LOGO REQUIREMENTS FOR ZERO DAY:
– Modern, Edgy or Rebellious.
– Designed for use on primarily digital media platforms for digital native consumers.
– Still has a visible tie to the production landscape.

BASIC LOGO DESIGN REQUIREMENTS:
– Extendable across various media including digital, print, motion and film.
– Memorable from simplicity.
– Flexible for possible brand extensions.
– Simple enough to work as black and white.
– Scalable: Works well in small and large scale.
– Animates in interesting and meaningful ways.
The final design was supposed to be somewhere outside the expected results but within the design criteria outlined.

In the process of customer discovery, I had to figure out who the target client for Zero Day was and how they relate to their target customers.

Three direct competitors came up during competitor discovery: Stage 13, Sony Crackle and sister company Disney +
